Position Summary:
• Must be motivated & able to work effectively with minimal direct supervision.
• Operates Taylor Draw Dam, Taylor Draw Hydroelectric Facility, Kenney Reservoir, & other holdings of the district.
• Must have strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
• Must be able to effectively interact with the public and Federal, State, and Local regulatory agencies.
• Must effectively supervise and coordinate activities of personnel of varying skill levels & a variety of tasks.
• On-call duties
Hiring Salary Range: $47,600 - $55,100

Locations:
- The Reservoir/Hydroelectric Operator be based out of our Rio Blanco Water Conservancy District Office and a variety of field locations.
- Monitor, collect, & interpret standpipe piezometers & dam embankment drain flows.
- Vegetation control.
- Maintains and operates control, monitoring, and SCADA equipment.
- Control rodents.
- Develop & maintain riparian habitats.
- Assist Colorado Parks & Wildlife, Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office, and Colorado State Patrol personnel in supervising recreational users of Taylor Draw Dam, Kenney Reservoir, other district assets, and in regulating the uses of Kenney Reservoir.
- Maintains the District’s recreation areas and facilities.
- Performs daily routine operations, inspections, & maintenance of Taylor Draw Dam and Taylor Draw Hydroelectric in accordance with applicable Operations & Maintenance Manuals in compliance with Colorado Division of Dam Safety and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
- Performs routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of electrical & instrumentation of Taylor Draw Dam and Hydroelectric Station as required.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics.
Education and Experience/Skills Required:
- High School diploma or equivalent or higher
- Minimum of three (3) years of general maintenance experience. One (1) year of supervisor experience.
- Understanding of computer systems.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems and processes.
- Must be able to pass drug, alcohol, & fit for duty screenings.
- Must know how to swim
Required Licenses & Certifications:
• Colorado State Driver’s License
• Colorado Hunter Safety Certificate or reciprocal state equivalent
Equipment operated:
Computers, backhoe, powerboat, small motors & centrifugal pumps,
hydraulic pumps & lines, manual and power tools, electrical testing devices, power winches, lawn mowers, weed trimmers, and lawn tractors.
