RBWCD Fishing Derby
The first weekend of June is Rio Blanco Water Conservancy District's Fishing Derby
The Rio Blanco Water Conservancy District, in collaboration with Colorado Parks and Wildlife, is delighted to announce the eagerly awaited annual Rio Blanco Water Conservancy District Fishing Derby. This event aims to foster, enlighten, and showcase a variety of water-related outdoor activities and ecological education relevant to western Rio Blanco County, coinciding with Colorado's annual FREE Fishing Weekend. This weekend provides a fantastic outdoor opportunity for youth, families, and individuals to engage in recreational activities.
Highlights of the event include:
- Complimentary boating and camping weekend at Kenney Reservoir, starting on the Friday prior to the fishing derby.
- A thrilling 2-day fishing derby, alongside a youth fishing derby on Saturday, featuring exciting prizes generously provided by our sponsors!

In the interest of public safety and for the preservation of the recreational facilities we require all users to abide by the following rules:
- Place trash in containers provided
- Glass bottles are not permitted in any area
- Conduct yourself in a safe and courteous manner at all times
- Obey all Colorado Boating Rules and Regulations
- Keep all pets on a leash and clean up after them
- Build fires only in designated fire rings or grills
- Do not cut trees or shrubs for firewood
- Discharge of fireworks and firearms is strictly prohibited
